View original imageOn July 25, Gokseong County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Cho Sangrae) visited wasabi farms in Okhwa-myeon that were damaged by heavy rainfall and carried out crop maintenance and flood recovery work.
This emergency recovery effort involved 42 participants, including staff from the Gokseong County Agricultural Technology Center and officials from the Jeollanam-do Strategic Industry Bureau, who helped the affected farms return to normal agricultural operations as quickly as possible.
The Okhwa-myeon area experienced significant damage due to the recent heavy rainfall, which amounted to 476mm. The wasabi farms were flooded, resulting in not only crop damage but also the destruction of various materials and agricultural machinery. On site, the removal of flooded equipment, maintenance of cultivation areas, and sorting and handling of damaged wasabi plants were carried out swiftly.
Starting with this volunteer effort, the county plans to continue providing customized support for farms affected by flood damage, including on-site technical assistance, pest and disease control, and crop cultivation consulting.
