The body believed to be that of a man in his 80s, who went missing during record-breaking heavy rain in Gwangju on July 17, has been found.

View original imageAccording to Gwangju Seobu Police Station and other authorities on July 25, a body was discovered at around 10:20 a.m. that day in the bushes near Sangmu Bridge in Maruk-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju. The body was buried under a mound of earth and was in an advanced state of decomposition.
The police believe there is a high possibility that the body is that of Mr. A, a man in his 80s who was last seen being swept away near Sinan Bridge in Buk-gu on July 17. The police have collected DNA samples to confirm the exact identity.
Mr. A is believed to have been swept away by the torrent on the day of the heavy rain, and police and fire authorities have continued their search operations for nine days. On the same day, another missing man in his 70s, Mr. B, was found dead three days later in Gwangjuho Lake.
