Buyeo, Korea's Top Chestnut Producer, to Host '2025 Fresh Chestnut and Forest Products Festival' in November
Meeting with Forestry Workers and Launch of Organizing Committee
Transitioning to an On-Site, Interactive Festival Focused on Communication
Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province will hold a large-scale forest products festival in November 2025, befitting its reputation as the top producer of chestnuts in the country.
On July 22, Buyeo County announced that it held a meeting with forestry workers at the Seodong Briefing Room in the county office to promote the "2025 Fresh Chestnut and Forest Products Festival" and launched the festival organizing committee.
With this, the county has taken its first step toward expanding sales channels for forest products and enhancing the brand value of local agricultural products.
The meeting was attended by Kim Kyungtae, Director of the Bureau of Agriculture, Livestock, and Environment, Kim Geontae, Director of the Forest and Greenery Division, and 26 representatives from forestry organizations in Buyeo. They shared the basic plans for the festival and discussed a variety of implementation strategies.
This year's festival is noteworthy as it will shift from an online sales-focused event to an on-site, offline festival.
It is planned as a "participatory agricultural festival" where consumers and producers can communicate directly, allowing for both purchases and hands-on experiences.
The festival will not only feature exhibitions and sales of chestnuts and various forest products, but will also include programs that allow participants to experience the nature and culture of Buyeo. It will be held as a comprehensive festival for both local residents and visitors.
The organizing committee also discussed the possibility of jointly hosting the event with the "Buyeo County Forestry Workers' Unity Rally" and will pursue promotional strategies in conjunction with the Chrysanthemum Festival organized by the Agricultural Technology Center.
A county official stated, "This festival is not just a sales event, but a golden opportunity to showcase the potential and value of Buyeo's forest products industry both domestically and internationally. We will actively promote the excellence of Buyeo's forest products through direct communication with consumers nationwide."
As the leading producer of chestnuts in the country, the county is drawing attention with expectations that this festival will increase forestry workers' income, revitalize the local economy, and open new horizons in agricultural product distribution.
