The agreement aims to cooperate on offshore wind power generation projects and the revitalization of the local economy.
Under this agreement, the two parties will actively pursue cooperative projects to strengthen the foundation of the renewable energy industry and promote mutual development in the region. Specifically, they will participate in the establishment of O&M centers, R&D centers, and specialized educational institutions to vitalize the offshore wind power industry ecosystem; devise measures to share the profits of the power generation business and promote coexistence with local residents; and support site visits to French offshore wind power projects and technical exchanges.
Yeonggwang County expects that this agreement will enable the sharing of global offshore wind power technology and experience with the local community, position the county as a hub for the offshore wind power industry, and realize a mutually beneficial model in which development profits are shared with residents.
The county also plans to promote sustainable revitalization of the local economy by creating jobs and building industrial infrastructure in connection with offshore wind power generation.
A Yeonggwang County official stated, "This agreement will serve as an important opportunity to simultaneously achieve two goals: responding to the global challenges of the climate crisis and energy transition, and revitalizing the local economy. We will continue to expand cooperation with leading domestic and international energy companies to develop Yeonggwang County into a key city for the offshore wind power industry."
