Hwang Jungmin Returns to Musicals After 10 Years... "Mrs. Doubtfire" Opens in September
Actor Hwang Jungmin will return to the musical stage for the first time in 10 years with "Mrs. Doubtfire."
On July 22, production company Sam Company announced that the musical "Mrs. Doubtfire" will be staged at the Charlotte Theater from September 27 to December 7, with Hwang Jungmin, Jung Sung Hwa, and Jung Sang Hoon sharing the lead role of Daniel.
"Mrs. Doubtfire" is based on the 1993 film of the same name starring the late Robin Williams. The protagonist Daniel, played by Hwang Jungmin, is a character who, after a divorce, disguises himself as the nanny "Mrs. Doubtfire" in order to see his children and get closer to his family again.
The musical "Mrs. Doubtfire" had its world premiere in Seattle, United States, in 2019 and debuted on Broadway in 2021. In Korea, it was first staged in 2022 as the world's first licensed production, winning the Producer Award and Makeup Design Award at the 7th Korea Musical Awards.

Jung Sung Hwa played the role of Daniel in the 2022 Korean premiere of "Mrs. Doubtfire," while Hwang Jungmin and Jung Sang Hoon are taking on the role for the first time. Notably, this marks Hwang Jungmin's return to musicals after 10 years, since his appearance in "Okepi" in 2015.
