The Outstanding Paper Award in Science and Technology is the most prestigious academic award in Korea, granted to scientists and engineers who have published excellent papers in domestic academic journals through creative research activities.
For this year's awards, Chosun University once again demonstrated its research capabilities, with two faculty members recognized in the field of engineering and one in the field of agricultural and fishery sciences. The awardees are Professor Dongkyu Ahn from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Professor Seokseung Hwang from the Department of Electronic Engineering in the field of engineering, and Professor Hyunjae Shin from the Department of Bio-Chemical Engineering in the field of agricultural and fishery sciences.
Professor Dongkyu Ahn received the award for his paper "Study on the Change of Self-Circulation Characteristics of Air According to TPMS Unit Design," published in the Journal of the Korean Society for Technology of Plasticity. His empirical analysis of the quantitative correlation between TPMS unit design and self-circulation characteristics was praised for its originality.
Professor Seokseung Hwang was honored for his paper "Computational Complexity Analysis of Cascade Angle of Arrival Estimation Algorithms According to Massive Array Antenna Geometry," published in the Journal of the Korean Institute of Navigation and the Journal of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing.
Professor Seokseung Hwang and Dr. Taeyoon Kim's research team focused on "High-Performance Angle-of-Arrival (AOA) Estimation Technology for Next-Generation Mobile Communications Including Satellite Communications." They developed a high-performance cascade angle of arrival estimation algorithm, which can be critically applied to mobile communication systems based on massive array antennas, and analyzed its computational complexity to enable effective utilization.
Professor Hyunjae Shin received the award for his paper "Improvement of Damaged Hair with Hair Treatment Containing Sparassis Crispa Extract," published in the Journal of Mushroom Science and Production. This award-winning paper is part of Professor Shin's ongoing research over the past ten years on the use of Sparassis crispa extract as a cosmetic material, and it drew attention for demonstrating high potential for industrial application.
The achievements of these three awardees serve as evidence of Chosun University's academic diversity and research capabilities. As a research-oriented university, Chosun University plans to continue actively supporting creative and practical research.
