Jeonnam Fire Headquarters Ranks First Nationwide in Fire Safety Measures Evaluation
Analysis of Regional Characteristics and Disaster Vulnerabilities
Customized Measures Achieve Zero Large-Scale Fires
Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced on July 21 that it ranked first nationwide in the 2024-2025 Winter Fire Safety Measures Evaluation conducted by the National Fire Agency.
The National Fire Agency evaluated 19 fire headquarters across the country from November last year to February this year, focusing on four main strategies: strengthening new and large-scale risk prevention management during winter, promoting fire safety awareness and education for the public, and assessing the outcomes of special initiatives unique to each city and province.
In this evaluation, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters was selected as the top fire headquarters among the 19 city and provincial fire headquarters nationwide. Hwasun Fire Station was also recognized as the top fire station among 241 stations nationwide and will receive a presidential commendation.
Jeonnam Fire Headquarters received high marks for analyzing the characteristics of Jeonnam, which has entered a super-aged society, and its local disaster vulnerabilities, and for implementing a variety of region-specific safety measures. The headquarters was also recognized for recording zero large-scale fires.
In particular, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters developed its own initiative by integrating a 360-degree road view system into conventional floor plan-based tabletop training. This allowed firefighters to familiarize themselves in advance with detailed information such as building interiors and fire protection facilities as if in real-life situations, earning high praise from the National Fire Agency.
Choi Yongcheol, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, "This achievement was possible thanks to the efforts and interest of local residents in fire prevention," adding, "We will continue to work hard to protect precious lives and property."
