NIS Appears to Have Completely Halted North Korea-Focused Broadcasts... Move to Foster Dialogue?
It has been reported that major North Korea-focused broadcasts operated by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) have recently been suspended all at once.
According to multiple sources, including private organizations involved in broadcasting to North Korea, the NIS's TV and radio broadcasts targeting North Korea began to cease transmission sequentially from early this month.
However, the NIS responded to our inquiry by stating, "We have no information that can be confirmed."

The suspension of the NIS's TV and radio broadcasts toward North Korea is interpreted as an effort to create an atmosphere conducive to dialogue and to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Previously, on June 12, immediately after the inauguration of the Lee Jaemyung administration, the South Korean military preemptively halted its loudspeaker broadcasts toward North Korea. Although the North did not issue an official response, it also stopped its own noise broadcasts in the border areas.
