On July 20 in Tokyo, Japan, world No. 1 An Seyoung defeated China's Wang Ziyi, ranked No. 2, in the women's singles final in just 42 minutes with a score of 2-0 (21-12, 21-10). Having already secured victories at the Malaysia Open, India Open, Orleans Masters, All England Open, and Indonesia Open earlier this year, An Seyoung has now claimed her sixth title of the season.

After winning the singles title at the 2023 Japan Open, An Seyoung did not compete in last year's tournament due to knee and ankle injuries sustained shortly after winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Now, two years later, she has once again become the Japan Open champion.
