Kim Dongyeon Marks Second Anniversary of Sergeant Chae's Death: "Will Stand Together Until the Truth Is Revealed"
Governor Kim Dongyeon of Gyeonggi Province pledged on the 19th, the second anniversary of the late Sergeant Chaesugeun's death in the line of duty, to stand together until the full truth is revealed. He also added that a documentary film titled "That Day," which deals with Sergeant Chae's death, will be screened at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office on the 22nd.
In a post on his social media account that day, Governor Kim stated, "(Today marks) the second anniversary of Sergeant Chae's death in the line of duty," and recalled, "I remember the words of the senior Marine who survived two years ago, which he shared at last year's memorial ceremony."
He went on to say, "(At the memorial, the senior Marine said) 'I hope the truth will be revealed and that those who are truly responsible will be held accountable. Now it is time for those who must respond to the story I shared with my small courage to act.'"

He also said, "We mourn and remember the unjust death of a young Marine," and added, "I will stand together until the truth, which those in power tried to hide, is fully revealed."

Previously, Sergeant Chaesugeun died in the line of duty on July 19, 2023, after being deployed to a search operation for missing persons during heavy rain in Naeseongcheon, Yecheon, North Gyeongsang Province.
