National Police Agency Holds Kick-off Meeting for Field-Oriented Public Safety R&D Projects
The National Police Agency announced on July 21 that it held a kick-off meeting for new projects under the Police Field-Oriented R&D Program (Police Lab 3.0).
Police Lab is a compound word combining "Police," meaning public security, and "Living-Lab." It refers to a research project in which citizens, public institutions (the police and the Ministry of Science and ICT), and researchers collaborate to identify, study, and validate issues in the field of public safety.
This year, research will begin on three projects selected through preliminary verification studies: an artificial intelligence (AI)-based traffic accident analysis system, AI-based 3D reconstruction technology for crime scenes, and lightweight hybrid protective equipment for stab and cut resistance, specifically designed to protect the face and neck.
