View original imageOn July 17 at 2:00 p.m., Gwangju City will hold a public hearing on the "2030 Gwangju Metropolitan City Industrial Area Master Plan (Draft)" in Mudeung Hall on the second floor of City Hall. This public hearing has been organized to gather opinions from citizens and experts on the draft plan, which outlines directions for the systematic management of industrial areas.
The city is establishing a master plan for 4.2 square kilometers of general and semi-industrial areas within urban districts, excluding industrial complexes. The target areas include a total of seven locations: the Songam Industrial Complex area, the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex area, the Maewol Distribution Complex area, the KT&G Gwangju Factory area, Kia Motors, Kumho Tire, and the vicinity of Songam TG.
This plan is being promoted in accordance with the "Special Act on the Management and Revitalization of Urban Industrial Areas" and includes strategies for industrial revitalization, spatial environment improvement, and the basic direction for support infrastructure in industrial areas.
The public hearing will be moderated by Shin Woojin, a professor in the Department of Regional Development at Chonnam National University, and will feature participation from experts in urban planning and industrial fields who will share a variety of perspectives.
The panel discussion will include Ahn Hyungsun, a professor in the Department of Urban Planning at Dongshin University; Park Dongwon, head of the Advanced Industrial City Research Office at the Gwangju Research Institute; and Lee Cheolseung, head of the Corporate Support Division at Gwangju Technopark Foundation.
Park Geumhwa, Director of Urban Space, stated, "Industrial areas are the foundation of urban employment and have significant potential for development. This master plan aims to redefine the role of industrial areas and establish a systematic management direction in line with changing industrial structures and urban environments. Through the public hearing, we plan to actively incorporate diverse opinions from citizens and experts to ensure the plan is practical and effective."
