Shipbuilding Industry Occupational Accident Prevention Meeting... Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Reports Significant Decrease in Fatal Accidents
Ha Hyungso, Director of Safety and Health Business at the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, visited the Busan Regional Headquarters on July 15 and held a shipbuilding industry occupational accident prevention meeting together with the Shipbuilding Accident Prevention Center.
This meeting was organized to review the direction of ongoing occupational accident prevention projects based on the current status of shipbuilding workplaces and accident occurrence statistics, and to discuss effective improvement measures.
According to the agency, the average annual number of fatal accidents in the shipbuilding sector over the past five years was 12.4. In 2024, the number surged to 20. However, as of the first half of this year, the number of fatal accidents was 5, showing a significant decrease compared to the same period last year.

The agency plans to implement follow-up measures to enhance the effectiveness of occupational accident prevention projects in the shipbuilding industry, based on the issues identified during this meeting.
