On July 14, Gunma Television reported that "the Gunma Prefectural Police imposed a one-month pay cut on a male police sergeant (equivalent to a lieutenant in Korea) affiliated with a local police station for secretly filming a female athlete at a sports venue."
This man used a digital camera in March of this year to film the lower body of a female athlete who was participating in a competition at a venue within the prefecture. A spectator witnessed this act, and after a venue official checked the images, the incident was reported to the police. In May, the police referred the man to prosecutors on charges of violating the prefecture's public nuisance prevention ordinance. He received a one-month pay cut and resigned on June 20.

During the police investigation, the man reportedly stated, "I had seen photos of female athletes' chests and other body parts in magazines, and I was curious about how it would look if I took such photos myself, so I did it."
