108 Gwangju Elementary AI Gifted Students Join Urban Problem-Solving Camp
Two-Day Collaborative Activities on the Theme of 'Smart City'
Developing Solutions for Old Downtown Areas Using AI and Software Educational Tools
Over 100 elementary school students from the Gwangju area participated in a two-day camp where they developed and presented ideas for solving urban problems using artificial intelligence and software educational tools. By combining urban regeneration with cutting-edge technology, the camp provided an opportunity for students to develop both creativity and collaboration skills.

View original imageAccording to the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education on July 14, the Education Research Information Center of the Office held the '2025 AI Information Gifted Education Center Elementary Gifted Camp' at the National Gwangju Science Museum from July 12 to 13. This was the second time the camp was held, following last year, and it was jointly organized by the Education Research Information Center and the Gwangju Science Museum.
A total of 108 fifth and sixth grade students from the AI Information Gifted Education Center participated in the camp. Under the theme 'Solving Old Downtown Issues with Smart Cities!', students worked in teams to carry out the entire process from planning to production and presentation using AI·SW-based educational tools.
The main programs included an opening ceremony and networking event, special lectures by smart city experts, hands-on practice with educational tools, team-based project production and presentations, and astronomical observation.
Bae Chaekyung, a student at Sanjeong Elementary School, said, "I had a special experience working with my friends to brainstorm and implement smart city ideas," and added, "I enjoyed the process of sharing different perspectives and collaborating together."
