Gyeonggi Province to Hold 'Art as a Vocation' Special Exhibition for Opportunity Income Artists at Four Venues Including Gimpo
Gyeonggi Province will hold a special exhibition titled '本業(Art as a Vocation): Art as a Calling' four times from July 17 at Gimpo Art Village through February next year, in order to share the social value of opportunity income recipients among artists with local residents.
This exhibition will feature a total of 140 visual artworks?including paintings, photographs, and installations?by 70 artists who were selected through an open call as beneficiaries of the opportunity income program.
The first exhibition, to be held at Gimpo Art Village from July 17 to September 7, will be presented under the sub-theme 'Seesaw: Between Everyday Life and Ideals.' It will showcase 67 works by 36 artists who seek a balance between artistic ideals and the realities of daily life.

View original imageSubsequent exhibitions will take place at the following venues: Gosaek Newseum (Suwon), 'When Space Becomes Place' (August 8?September 17); Gyeonggi Museum of Art (Ansan), 'Start Up' (November 13?December 21); and Yangpyeong County Museum of Art (Yangpyeong), 'War and Peace' (November 28, 2025?February 22, 2026).
In particular, the 'Start Up' exhibition at Gyeonggi Museum of Art is designed to support emerging young artists, featuring works exclusively by artists aged 39 and under.

Kwak Sunmi, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Arts Policy Division, stated, "This opportunity income expansion project, such as the current exhibition, is a unique arts policy of Gyeonggi Province that allows both artists and residents to enjoy the social value of art together," adding, "We hope this special exhibition will serve as a refreshing cultural gift for residents to help them get through the hot summer."
