City: "Health Reasons... Prompt Appointment of Suitable Candidate"
On July 8, the city of Gwangju announced that Hyunseong Kim, who had recently been nominated as Deputy Mayor of Culture and Economy, has resigned due to health reasons.
Kim, the former CEO of the Gwangju Economic Promotion and Win-Win Jobs Foundation and nominee for Deputy Mayor of Culture and Economy, reportedly expressed his intention to step down due to unavoidable circumstances, including the need for a thorough medical examination.
A city official stated, "Kim received an opinion during a health checkup that a more detailed examination was necessary, which inevitably led to his resignation," and added, "We will do our best to promptly appoint a suitable candidate who can lead important local issues proactively and responsibly."
