This project was established to help vulnerable groups who have moved to stable housing live in a comfortable residential environment. It is being implemented with a subsidy of 20 million won, secured by being selected for the "Housing Welfare Idea Contest Project" organized by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH).
A city official explained the background of the project, saying, "Until now, the support provided to households who have upgraded their housing has focused on home appliances, which has led to inconvenience as they could not obtain the basic furniture needed for daily life."
The furniture support will be carried out in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong City Furniture Distribution Business Cooperative. A representative from the cooperative will visit each household to conduct a preliminary survey of their furniture needs and then provide customized products for each household. The cooperative will also support delivery and installation at a low supply price.
The support will be provided to 15 households selected from among last year's and this year's housing upgrade support project beneficiaries. Each household will receive furniture worth up to 1.5 million won. Starting in August, staff from the Housing Welfare Center and representatives from the furniture cooperative will visit the households to consult on their needs, and furniture installation will be completed by September.
The city also plans to offer experiential activities in which these households can create simple wooden items such as cutting boards and small folding tables together, to help promote emotional stability.
