During the meeting, the agency emphasized to field departments such as local police stations, patrol vessels, and rescue teams the importance of maintaining a rapid response posture for rescue operations in the event of maritime accidents. They also discussed efficient rescue measures that the public can directly experience and benefit from.
In addition, as nearshore water leisure activities are increasing, they discussed promotional measures such as encouraging the registration of personally owned leisure equipment through the 'Badanavi' app, which enables real-time monitoring.
In particular, the agency highlighted the importance of cooperation with local governments, including shoreline inspections and supporting safety management at beaches, in preparation for the expected increase in summer water recreation visitors.
Lee Myungjun, Commissioner of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency, stated, "This year, we expect more people to visit beaches due to prolonged heat and high temperatures, so we held this commanders' meeting to focus on safety management." He added, "We will continue to do our utmost so that all citizens can safely enjoy the sea."
