Automatic Song Selection with Various Personalized Features
Kakao Entertainment announced on July 1 that its music platform Melon has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) music curation service called "DJ Mallang-i."
A new "ForYou" tab, which brings together all personalized recommendation services, has been added to the bottom menu of Melon's main screen. When users click on ForYou, they are introduced to the new AI-powered music curation service, DJ Mallang-i. By pressing the "Play Recommended Now" button located below Mallang-i, a character shaped like the Melon logo with blinking eyes, users can instantly play music tailored to their tastes, based on a combination of music big data and their listening history.
The "Custom Selection" and "Personalized Recommendation Card" features, located below DJ Mallang-i, are also newly launched personalized services. In "Custom Selection," users can discover music curated according to their activity within Melon. The "Personalized Recommendation Card" suggests new music for users to preview for 10 seconds, based on their listening history.
Additionally, Melon has revamped its home screen user interface (UI). At the very top of the home screen, the "Popular Selection" service now displays the most popular songs, integrating Melon Chart, search, likes, and Melon DJ. Each song in "Popular Selection" comes with background information explaining the reason for the recommendation, such as "HOT 100 No. 1" or "Search Trend."
