The Chosun University Hospital Branch of the Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the National Health and Medical Industry Labor Union held a press conference on the 30th at Chosun University Hospital in Dong-gu, Gwangju, stating, "It has been three months since the incident in which a department head illegally wiretapped employees occurred," and, "Despite the illegal wiretapping of employees, the department head remains unrepentant, the hospital has responded belatedly, and the irregularities in regular personnel appointments have caused distress among frontline nurses."
They pointed out, "Although we demanded a thorough separation of the perpetrator and the victim, as well as principled and swift handling of the incident, the parties involved are still working in close proximity on the same floor," and, "Even after protesting to the hospital, we were told that 'as long as they are not working in the same department, it counts as separation.'"
They continued, "The department head should be suspended from duty and subjected to severe disciplinary action as soon as possible," adding, "Employees are afraid of encountering the perpetrator."
Regarding the issue of relocating the administrative offices from the 8th floor of the main building to the 2nd floor of the funeral hall, ostensibly to improve the training environment for residents, they criticized, "The project to improve resident training facilities is funded by both national and internal hospital budgets and is not an evaluation criterion," and, "Such a move should have been pursued only after obtaining the consent of the majority of hospital members. When this issue was raised, the hospital responded irresponsibly, telling employees to simply endure the inconvenience."
They also raised suspicions of personnel intervention by a particular professor, stating, "Last month, there was a regular personnel appointment in the nursing department to accommodate the convenience of a specific professor," and added, "The hospital, where fairness and trust have been undermined, must apologize for this issue and establish measures to prevent its recurrence."
