Sejong City Selects "Easing of Regulations on Agro-Industrial Complexes" as Best Proactive Administration Case
Persuading the Ministry of Environment,
Easing Regulations on Factory Expansion in Agro-Industrial Complexes
On June 29, Sejong City announced that it had selected the "Easing of Regulations on Occupancy in Agro-Industrial Complexes" as the best proactive administration case for the first half of this year. The city selected one best case, four excellent cases, and seven encouragement cases, and also chose 38 outstanding public officials.
Among the 12 excellent cases that passed the preliminary screening, the final selection for the best case was made through deliberation and resolution by the Proactive Administration Committee. The best case was awarded to the Industrial Location Division for easing occupancy regulations in agro-industrial complexes, which attracted investments of over 100 billion KRW and created 300 jobs. Previously, companies faced difficulties expanding factories within agro-industrial complexes due to guidelines from the Ministry of Environment. However, the city actively persuaded the ministry and led to a revision of the guidelines.
As a result, companies were able to expand their factories, which led to large-scale corporate investment and revitalization of the local economy.
In addition, the following were selected as excellent cases: the lifting of military facility protection zones in Jeonui and Sojeong; attracting the UNESCO World Heritage International Interpretation and Explanation Center; securing the national treasure Wolincheongangjigok; and, for the first time in the country, enhancing bus stop safety by attaching pillar-type photoluminescent stickers.
Seven projects actively promoted by the city were selected as encouragement cases, including the in-house development of an artificial intelligence (AI) press release writing service, installation of job information kiosks in Sejong City, and resolving water leakage at the Bangok-dong government office. The city plans to grant personnel benefits to employees selected as outstanding public officials based on their creativity and expertise in proactive administration.
Kim Hakgyun, Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs, stated, "We will continue to provide support so that proactive administration can spread as part of our organizational culture," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that citizens can truly experience the results of proactive administration."
