Yeoju City Holds 3rd Anniversary Major Achievements Report Meeting for 8th Term
Yeoju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that it held the 3rd anniversary major achievements report meeting for the 8th term of direct election at the main conference room of Yeoju City Hall on the 26th. The event was attended by Lee Choongwoo, Mayor of Yeoju, the Pledge Fulfillment Evaluation Group, the 8th Term Transition Committee, the Citizen Reporter Group, members of the press, and approximately 150 related public officials.

View original imageMayor Lee Choongwoo reflected on the major achievements of the 8th term, including the decision to construct a new city hall, the signing of a win-win agreement with the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, attaining the highest grade in the comprehensive integrity assessment for two consecutive years, implementing the Win-Win Voucher program, opening the Agricultural Products Joint Brand Activation Center, achieving first place in the agricultural product brand category of the Korea Industry Brand Power in 2025, declaring the Year of Tourism, opening the Yeoju Namhangang Suspension Bridge, attracting a record 1.16 million visitors to the Ceramic Festival, establishing the largest park golf course in the Seoul metropolitan area, and creating a citizen park as a resting place for all citizens. He shared his thoughts on how these initiatives have addressed key local issues.
He also outlined the schedule for major upcoming projects, including four urban development projects such as Hyeonam 1 District, four station area development projects including Yeoju Station Area 2 District, the creation of 16 industrial complexes including the Ganam Semiconductor Industrial Complex, the completion of the Agricultural Product Distribution Support Center in 2027, the new city hall in 2028, and the Livestock Manure Public Treatment Facility in 2030. Mayor Lee pledged to ensure that the remaining year of the 8th term would proceed without setbacks.
This was followed by a comprehensive report on city administration by the Director of Planning and Budget. The report highlighted Yeoju City's consistent achievements during the 8th term, such as being recognized as an excellent institution in the Gyeonggi-do City and County Comprehensive Evaluation for three consecutive years, in the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's Comprehensive Integrity Assessment of Public Institutions for three consecutive years, and in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation for three consecutive years. The report detailed a total of 74 awards, 83 public contest projects amounting to approximately 142.6 billion won, including about 44 billion won for the Livestock Manure Public Treatment Facility project, the achievement of a 78.2% pledge fulfillment rate for the 8th term's 84 projects under 10 major visions as of June 30, 2025, an overall city administration satisfaction rate of 85.4%, and investment attraction results amounting to 2.3 trillion won, among many other major accomplishments.
Mayor Lee Choongwoo concluded the meeting by reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the construction of the new city hall, stating that he would continue to persuade the city council to ensure the project proceeds without delay. He also emphasized that while he would consult on various national projects taking place in the Yeoju area, he would seek mutually beneficial solutions for Yeoju's development and pursue reasonable ways to resolve conflicts.
