Celltrion Publishes Its Third Sustainability Management Report
Systematic Implementation of Carbon Neutrality Roadmap
Strengthening Responsible Management in Each Sector
Celltrion announced on the 27th that it has published the "Celltrion Sustainability Management Report 2024-2025," which details its sustainable management activities and achievements, on its official website.
This is the third time Celltrion has issued a sustainability management report. Since 2023, Celltrion has published this report annually to transparently disclose its management activities and financial and non-financial achievements in the fields of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), and to communicate with stakeholders.
This report incorporates global ESG disclosure standards presented by organizations such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). It also applies climate and environmental disclosure frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), keeping pace with the latest global trends.
Continuing from last year, Celltrion conducted a Double Materiality Assessment this year as well, based on concepts proposed by international standards such as the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Through this process, the company identified and disclosed ten major ESG issues, including ▲R&D innovation, ▲medical accessibility, and ▲product responsibility and safety. Celltrion plans to actively reflect these issues in its future business operations.
Through this report, Celltrion disclosed its ESG management achievements, focusing on goals and the step-by-step progress in the fields of environment, social, and governance.
In the environmental field, as part of its "2045 Net Zero Target," Celltrion is working to convert 100% of its company vehicles to eco-friendly vehicles by 2030. Last year, the conversion rate reached approximately 21%. The company is also gradually transitioning to 100% eco-friendly packaging materials, achieving a conversion rate of about 71% last year.
Additionally, Celltrion conducted Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for six major products, systematically evaluating carbon emissions across all stages of the product lifecycle, from raw material extraction to manufacturing, packaging, distribution, use, and disposal. The results are being used to establish carbon reduction strategies. The company plans to expand the number of products subject to this assessment in the future.
In the social field, as a global biotechnology company, Celltrion focused on R&D innovation and achieved significant results. The company reached its goal of building a portfolio of 11 biosimilars ahead of schedule last year, and is sequentially launching approved products in the market. In addition, Celltrion is committed to developing new drug pipelines, including multiple antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and multi-specific antibodies, aiming to contribute to the improvement of global human health.
Furthermore, Celltrion is actively working to improve medical environments. Through an internal charity bazaar held this year, employees raised funds that will be used to support African countries with poor medical infrastructure. The funds will be used for dispatching Korean doctors, training local physicians, and providing customized treatments.
In the governance field, Celltrion is pursuing measures to enhance transparency in corporate operations and maximize shareholder value. At the end of last year, the company introduced a board self-assessment for the first time to evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of board operations. Going forward, Celltrion plans to improve board operations and increase institutional transparency through regular annual assessments. In addition, the company is making active efforts to enhance shareholder value and achieve shared growth with shareholders through share buybacks and cancellations, top management share purchases, and increased dividends.
Moreover, in response to rising stakeholder demands for compliance and ethical management, Celltrion has strengthened its compliance system and obtained re-certification for the Anti-Bribery Management System (ISO 37001).
