Gijang County in Busan Supports Reading Activities for People with Disabilities... "Inviting You to the World of Books"
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on June 20 that it will promote the "Reading Activity Support Program for People with Disabilities" centered around Gijang Library until December.
This program was established to enhance reading accessibility for people with disabilities, who are considered culturally marginalized, and to help improve their cognitive abilities through various reading experiences.
The program will run from June 20 to December 12, with Gijang Library serving as the lead organizer and support provided by the Kori Branch of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. A professional reading instructor will visit local welfare facilities for people with disabilities to operate a program that combines storytelling with post-reading activities.
In addition, participants will be able to borrow a "teaching aid kit" containing customized board games and cognitive activity tools tailored to different types of disabilities. Experience programs such as magic show performances will also be offered.
