YGPA Donates Potatoes Harvested from Donation Garden to Food Bank
300 Boxes of Homegrown Potatoes Delivered
to Vulnerable Groups
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (YGPA, Acting President Hwang Hakbeom) announced on June 18 that it had donated 300 boxes of potatoes, which were grown and harvested directly from the 'YGPA Happy Sharing Donation Garden,' to local low-income households and elderly people living alone, as well as other neighbors in welfare blind spots, through the regional food banks.
The delivery ceremony was attended by representatives from YGPA, as well as Gwangyang YWCA, Munsu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Ssangbong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, all of which operate food banks in the Yeosu and Gwangyang areas.

View original imageSince 2019, YGPA has been operating the 'YGPA Happy Sharing Donation Garden' on a 700-pyeong idle plot near its headquarters, creating jobs for local seniors and donating the harvested crops to social welfare facilities and vulnerable groups, thereby realizing meaningful regional coexistence.
In addition, in order to ensure that the crops grown in the donation garden are distributed evenly to vulnerable groups in need within the region, YGPA has signed a partnership agreement with three food banks in Yeosu and Gwangyang since last year, donating both harvested potatoes and homemade kimchi.
Acting President Hwang Hakbeom stated, "It is meaningful that the donation garden utilizing idle land creates jobs for local seniors and delivers warmth to marginalized neighbors," adding, "We will continue to grow together with the local community in the future."
Meanwhile, YGPA plans to continue cultivating the donation garden with local seniors in the second half of this year and to donate kimchi made from the harvested cabbages to the local community.
