Yeongsangang Office to Conduct Special Inspections of Large-Scale Development Sites Ahead of Rainy Season
The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office will conduct special guidance and inspections on large-scale development sites where environmental damage such as soil runoff is a concern, ahead of the rainy season, until next month.
According to the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office on June 19, the inspections will target 20 locations that are highly vulnerable to damage during heavy rainfall, including gravel extraction sites, tourism complexes, and road construction areas. The inspections will focus on the adequacy of facilities such as sedimentation basins, temporary drainage channels, and silt fences, as well as on the condition of slope protection and revegetation.
To encourage voluntary management by site operators during this inspection, the office will also provide guidance on management of mitigation facilities and share best practices for preventing environmental damage. In addition, as unstable slopes were identified at some sites during last year's rainy season, the office will strengthen pre-rainy season inspections this year.
