Hyundai Steel to Supply Automotive Steel Sheets to GM Korea for the First Time
Starting in September, 100,000 Tons to Be Supplied Annually
Hyundai Steel will supply automotive steel sheets to GM Korea for the first time. Hyundai Steel, which has previously focused on supplying automotive steel sheets to Hyundai Motor and Kia, is expanding its customer base to include GM Korea.
According to the steel industry on June 12, Hyundai Steel will supply approximately 100,000 tons of automotive steel sheets annually to GM Korea, starting as early as September.
Until now, GM Korea has sourced steel materials from Baoshan Iron & Steel in China and from POSCO and other domestic suppliers in Korea.
GM Korea's decision to source automotive steel sheets from Hyundai Steel is seen as an effort to diversify its supply chain to companies outside of China, in response to the ongoing trade conflict between the United States and China.
