Oman: "U.S. and Iran to Hold Sixth Round of Nuclear Talks on the 15th"
Oman Mediates U.S.-Iran Nuclear Talks
Held in Muscat, the Capital of Oman
Nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran will be held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on the 15th (local time). Oman is mediating the nuclear talks between the United States and Iran.
Badr Albusaidi, Omani Foreign Minister, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he was pleased to host the sixth round of talks between Iran and the United States in Muscat on Sunday, the 15th.
There had been confusion regarding the date of the sixth round of talks, as U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on the 12th that it would be held then, while the Iranian side insisted on the 15th.
The main agenda of the sixth round is expected to be the recent first official agreement proposal presented by the United States and Iran's response to it. Although the specific details of each side's proposals have not been disclosed, whether Iran will be allowed to enrich uranium remains the biggest point of contention.
The United States has repeatedly stated that it will not allow uranium enrichment, which is a key step in nuclear weapons production, but Iran has emphasized that it can never give this up, leading to a stalemate in negotiations.
Meanwhile, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh stated the previous day that "if the negotiations fail and we are pushed into conflict, the damage to the other side will be far greater than to us, and the United States will have to leave the region."
He further warned, "All U.S. bases in the region are within our range, and we will not hesitate to attack all of them."
