Suspicion of Specific Organization's Involvement in Neulbom School Instructor Recruitment... Gyeongbuk Office of Education Says "No External Pressure Found"
Comprehensive Investigation Conducted at All Elementary Schools
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jongshik) recently conducted a comprehensive investigation of all elementary schools in the Gyeongbuk region and announced the results on June 12, in response to suspicions raised in some areas regarding the involvement of a specific private organization in the hiring process of Neulbom School instructors.
The investigation found that there were no cases of instructor recruitment involving any specific private organization at Neulbom Schools in the Gyeongbuk region. Furthermore, no unfair external intervention or pressure was identified during the instructor hiring process.
This investigation was proactively carried out to ensure the fairness and transparency of Neulbom School operations. The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education reaffirmed that every step of the instructor recruitment process was conducted properly.
At each school under the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education, recruitment notices for Neulbom instructors are posted both online and offline by the school or the local education support office. These notices clearly outline all aspects of the recruitment process, including program details, qualification requirements, interview procedures, and selection steps.
The selection of instructors is conducted fairly by an evaluation committee composed of both internal and external members, based on objective criteria. Background checks for sexual offenses and child abuse are also mandatory.
Based on these transparent and thorough procedures, a total of 9,022 Neulbom School instructors were hired for the first semester of the 2025 academic year, and approximately 15,000 programs are currently being operated based on surveys of student and parent demand.
Lim Jongshik, Superintendent of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education, stated, "We place the highest value on fairness and transparency in all educational administration, including instructor recruitment," and added, "We will continue to operate high-quality Neulbom programs that students and parents can trust through ongoing monitoring and inspections."
