Yoon Submits Statement Refusing Second Police Summons, Claims Arrest Warrant Execution Was Unlawful
On June 11, former President Yoon Sukyeol’s legal team submitted a written statement indicating that he would not comply with the police's second summons.

View original imageYoon Gapgeun, the attorney representing former President Yoon, stated in the opinion letter that “the attempt by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) to execute an arrest warrant constitutes an unlawful and invalid exercise of official duties,” arguing that the charges cannot be established. He further stated, “Allegations that are not factual are being publicly disclosed as criminal suspicions, and since the summons is being issued without any substantiated evidence, there is no justifiable reason for attendance. Therefore, a thorough investigation must be conducted before reconsidering the summons.” He added, “An investigation into those involved in executing the warrant must first be carried out to determine whether any illegal acts occurred during the execution of the arrest warrant.”
Former President Yoon is currently under investigation for allegedly instructing the Presidential Security Service to prevent his own arrest, a charge classified as obstruction of special official duties.

Previously, the police requested that former President Yoon appear for questioning on June 5, but he did not comply. The police then issued a second summons for June 12.
