Sejong City to Hold 'Science Concert' on June 13
Professor Kim Beomjoon of Sungkyunkwan University to Deliver Special Lecture:
"The Complex World Through the Eyes of Quantum"
Sejong City announced that it will hold the 'Sejong Science Concert' on June 13 at Haengboknurimteo in Areum-dong, in collaboration with Technopark, to provide an opportunity for everyone to engage with science in an easy and enjoyable way.
This concert is part of a project to strengthen the region's scientific and cultural capabilities, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, the Science and Technology Promotion Fund, and the Lottery Fund. On this day, under the theme "The Power of Thought, the Resonance of Science," the latest scientific and technological information will be introduced, ranging from quantum mechanics to life sciences.
Kim Beomjoon, professor in the Department of Physics at Sungkyunkwan University, will deliver a special lecture titled "The Complex World Through the Eyes of Quantum," sharing fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics and its applications. In addition, Son Hyejin, researcher at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Choi Byunghyuk, researcher at the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at KAIST, and Jeong Jiseon, researcher at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, will participate in a science talk show discussing the latest trends and laboratory stories in the field of life sciences.
Any citizen interested in science can participate, and pre-registration is available online through the QR code included in the promotional materials.
In particular, a second science concert is also scheduled to be held over two days in November, featuring expert lectures and science-art fusion performances.
Mayor Choi Minho stated, "In line with the government's vision for a quantum economy, we are continuously working to establish Sejong as a hub city for quantum science and technology, as well as a global quantum city." He added, "I hope this event will help deepen understanding of quantum as a game changer and serve as an opportunity to change students' futures."
