Under the theme of "Ending Plastic Pollution," the event brought together approximately 200 participants, including officials from Jeollanam-do, Damyang County Council, local environmental organizations, and county residents. The program included commendations for individuals contributing to environmental conservation, as well as commemorative speeches, congratulatory remarks, and welcome addresses.
Prior to the main event, there was a performance by a senior choir and a sand art stage, which were well received by attendees. In one area of the venue, various hands-on programs addressing the climate crisis were offered, such as "Fan Journey with the Wind," "Making EM Enzymes," and "Zero Waste Green Therapy."
Governor Jung Chulwon stated, "Environment Day is not merely a commemorative date, but a day to reaffirm our promise to protect the foundation of our lives. With Damyang's ecological and natural assets, we will continue to pass on a healthy environment to future generations through the realization of carbon neutrality and sustainable policies."
