On June 10, President Lee Jaemyung stated, "The government, based on the sovereignty of the people, will uphold the fundamental principle of respecting the National Assembly and will ensure sound governance through communication."
Woo Sangho, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office, visited National Assembly Speaker Woo Wonsik at the National Assembly that afternoon and conveyed this message on behalf of President Lee.
Speaker Woo Wonsik, who entered the 17th National Assembly and worked together with Senior Secretary Woo Sangho in the Democratic Party, said, "I understand him to be someone with outstanding political acumen," and added, "It is extremely important to cooperate within the National Assembly, and in that regard, I expect him to play a significant role."
In response, Senior Secretary Woo Sangho promised, "On every important matter, both large and small, I will communicate with Speaker Woo and, although there is a separation of powers, I will faithfully serve as a bridge for cooperation and communication to overcome the crises facing the Republic of Korea and to achieve new progress."
