Boarding Starts from the Rear Seats... Asiana Airlines Implements 'Zone Boarding'
For Economy Class Passengers...
Expectations for Reducing Cabin Congestion
From now on, economy class passengers on both domestic and international flights operated by Asiana Airlines will board the aircraft starting from the rear seats.
On June 10, Asiana Airlines announced that starting from June 11, it will implement a "back-to-front" style "zone boarding" system for economy class passengers on both domestic and international flights.
Zone boarding is a method that divides the aircraft cabin into multiple zones and boards passengers in the order of these zones. Korean Air has already implemented this system since June 2020.
Asiana Airlines will divide economy class into three zones and guide passengers to board sequentially, starting with those seated in the rear. The zone number can be found on the boarding pass, and boarding will begin with "Zone 1." Passengers traveling with infants, pregnant women, and elderly passengers will be allowed to board before other economy class passengers, regardless of their zone number.
Asiana Airlines explained that this measure is intended to minimize contact between passengers in the cabin and to prevent congestion. If there is no boarding order, passengers who board earlier may block the entry of those seated further back while placing their carry-on luggage in the overhead bins.

An official from Asiana Airlines stated, "By boarding from the rear seats first, we can not only reduce cabin congestion caused by passengers stowing their carry-on luggage, but also shorten boarding time and improve on-time performance. We kindly ask for our customers' attention and cooperation to ensure a safe and pleasant boarding experience."
