Gwangju City Invites Applications for "Youth Part-Time Job Friendly Workplaces"
Youth Safe Workplace Applications Open Until July 4
Support for Water and Sewage Fees and Volume-Based Waste Bags Provided
Gwangju City announced on June 8 that it is accepting applications for the "2025 Youth Part-Time Job Friendly Workplace" program until July 4, aiming to create a safe and respectful part-time work environment for young people.
The "Youth Part-Time Job Friendly Workplace" designation is awarded to workplaces in the Gwangju area that employ youth aged 24 or younger, comply with the Labor Standards Act and other relevant laws, and provide an environment where young workers can work with peace of mind.
Since 2017, the city has operated the "Youth Part-Time Job Friendly Workplace Certification System," offering a variety of benefits to certified workplaces. Last year, 53 workplaces were certified as Youth Part-Time Job Friendly Workplaces.
The selection criteria include: ▲ preparation and issuance of employment contracts ▲ payment of minimum wage and weekly holiday allowances ▲ respectful treatment of youth workers ▲ recommendations from workers at the workplace. After a document review and on-site evaluation, the final results are scheduled to be announced in September.
Workplaces selected for final certification will receive a certification plaque, partial support for water and sewage fees, support for volume-based waste bags, and various other benefits. In particular, they will also receive online and offline promotional support, including leaflets and social network services (SNS).
The application period is open until July 4. Eligible applicants are business owners who, as of the announcement date (June 4), have continuously employed at least one youth worker aged 24 or younger for more than two months at their workplace.
Applicants should refer to the announcement posted on the websites of Gwangju City or the Gwangju Labor Rights Center, and submit the required documents via email, mail, or fax. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Gwangju Labor Rights Center.
Lee Gyaedu, Director of Labor and Employment Policy, stated, "The Youth Part-Time Job Friendly Workplace is more than just a certification; it is an important initiative to protect the labor rights of youth and to foster a responsible employment culture in the local community. We hope for the interest and participation of many workplaces."
