Gangseo-gu to Host Gugak Festival "Pungnyu25" on June 18
Fusion Gugak and Traditional Dance Performances
at Gangseo Artrium
On June 18, 2025, at 6 p.m., Gangseo-gu in Seoul will host the traditional culture and arts performance "Pungnyu25" at Ari Hall on the second floor of the Gangseo Artrium. This event, which embodies the spirit of "pungnyu," is designed to allow residents to momentarily set aside the burdens of daily life and fully enjoy the unique excitement and joy of Korean culture.
The performance will feature a total of eight acts, including fusion gugak, traditional dance, samulnori, instrumental ensemble, and folk songs. The opening stage will showcase "Songseoyulchang," a Gyeonggi Province Intangible Cultural Asset, and a mask performance, followed by a contemporary gugak performance by the fusion gugak group "Hwian."
There will also be a traditional dance called "Sugeonipchum" and a solo traditional mask dance "Bamgil" performed by one person in two roles. The lineup includes a gugak performance by the Korea National University of Arts Ensemble, a "Nanta" performance set to trot music, the representative drum dance of Jeollanam-do "Jindobukchum," and a modern reinterpretation of samulnori called "Seonbanpangut," promising a diverse array of performances.
This "Pungnyu25" is a traditional cultural performance that all generations can enjoy together, and admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis until 10 minutes before the performance without prior reservation.
