From Voting Interference to Assault... 793 Emergency Calls Reported During Presidential Election Voting (Comprehensive)
The National Police Agency announced on June 3 that a total of 793 emergency calls related to the 21st presidential election voting had been received via the 112 hotline.
As of 8:00 p.m. on this day, there were 223 reports of voting interference or disturbances, 5 reports of assault, 13 reports of traffic inconveniences, and 552 reports classified as other (including misunderstandings).
Emergency calls were continuously received from polling stations across the country due to incidents such as assaults and disturbances. Police responded to the scenes to ensure that voting proceeded normally and are currently investigating the individuals involved after booking them.
In Busan, at the outdoor area of the Jung-dong No. 1 polling station in Haeundae-gu, a man in his 40s who was waiting to vote while smoking an electronic cigarette assaulted a man in his 30s who tried to stop him from smoking behind him.
In Jeju, at the Seogwang-dong-ri Community Welfare Center polling station in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, a man in his 60s was arrested at the scene for assaulting and causing a disturbance, including pushing the chest of a poll worker in his 30s.
