Yangsan City to Hold 'Carbon Neutrality Point System' New Registration Event in June
30% Increase in New Registrations Compared to Last Year
New Members Eligible for Up to 15,000 Won Cashback
Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that, due to a significant increase in new registrations for the 'Carbon Neutrality Point System (Energy Sector)' amid high citizen participation, a special event will once again be held throughout June for online new registrants.
Since the beginning of this year, the city has encouraged participation in the system by offering various incentives and conducting active promotional campaigns. As a result, the number of new registrants has shown a marked increase, rising by approximately 30% compared to the same period last year.
In particular, the online new registration cashback event held in March received a strong response, prompting the city to decide to offer additional benefits in June using the same approach.
Accordingly, from June 1 to June 30, 50 households who newly register for the Carbon Neutrality Point System online through the official website will be selected by lottery to receive Yangsan Love Card cashback worth 10,000 won. This is in addition to the existing new registration incentive of 5,000 won (Yangsan Love Card, first 2,000 households), allowing participants to receive benefits of up to 15,000 won. However, it is important to note that incentives can only be provided to those who have already been issued a Yangsan Love Card in advance.
Additionally, the basic incentive for reducing energy usage has been further strengthened. If energy usage is reduced by 5% or more compared to the average consumption over the past two years, the reduction rate will be converted at 1.5 won per point (a 50% increase from the previous 1 won), with a maximum annual payout of up to 75,000 won. Incentives are distributed twice a year, in June and December.
The 'Carbon Neutrality Point System' is a government-led greenhouse gas reduction initiative that provides incentives based on the reduction rate when households or commercial facilities decrease their electricity, water, or city gas usage.
Households wishing to participate can apply online through the Carbon Neutrality Point System website, or in person at the Climate and Environment Division of Yangsan City Hall or at local administrative welfare centers.
