More than 50 people, including residents and public officials, participated. Attendees took part in a variety of programs, including strawberry harvesting and tasting, evaluations of processed products (cheong, hongcho, and jam), and a satisfaction survey about the experience.
This experience event was organized to allow local residents to directly experience Jasan strawberries, which are grown in Gwangju and mostly shipped to the Seoul metropolitan area.
Jasan strawberries are notable for being cultivated using the premium 'Jukhyang' variety, grown with a pesticide-free and eco-friendly method that utilizes chlorella culture solution. In addition, the Tyvek cultivation method is applied from December to March to improve quality during the cold season, resulting in high praise for their sweetness and texture.
According to Bukgu, approximately 190 tons of Jasan strawberries were harvested this year, generating sales of 4 billion won. This figure reflects the highest unit price level nationwide.
To strengthen the competitiveness of Jasan strawberries, Bukgu is promoting initiatives such as support for eco-friendly fertilizers, packaging containers, greenhouse films, and logistics costs. The district is also considering future support for facility equipment to respond to climate change and the development of new experience programs.
