Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province received the Grand Prize at the '2025 Cadastral Work Research Project Presentation Contest' hosted by Gyeongbuk Province, achieving the distinction of winning awards for three consecutive years following the Excellence Award in both 2023 and 2024.

View original imageThis contest was organized to present research projects on improvements to cadastral work systems, explore directions for the advancement of cadastral administration, and enhance work capabilities, with about 100 public officials specializing in cadastral affairs from cities and counties within Gyeongbuk Province participating. The contest was held at the multipurpose hall of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office.
Geum Byunguk, an official from the Civil Affairs Division of Goryeong County, presented research results on the topic of 'Automation Measures for Correcting Minor Errors in Continuous Cadastral Maps.' Among the 21 projects submitted, his project was selected as one of five to pass the first round of judging and ultimately received the Grand Prize.
This research project proposed a method to automatically identify and correct minor boundary errors present in continuous cadastral maps, earning high praise for its potential to enhance the accuracy of cadastral maps and improve work efficiency.
In particular, this research will be submitted to the 'National Cadastral Seminar' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, representing Gyeongbuk Province, and is expected to be recognized for its value on the national stage as well.
County Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "The passion and dedication of official Geum Byunguk have once again elevated the status of Goryeong County's cadastral administration," and added, "We will continue to provide even higher quality cadastral administrative services to our residents through ongoing research and capacity development."
