"Kids Welcome"... Starbucks Opens First 'Family Friendly' Store in Sejong
The First 'Family Friendly' Concept Store Featuring Dedicated Family Spaces
Includes Family Lounge for Customers with Young Children
Starbucks Korea announced on May 30 that it will open the 'Sejong Arts Center Branch' in Sejong City, the first store in Korea to adopt the 'Family Friendly' concept.
This new store, which has a total of 172 seats, was designed with a completely new spatial layout to reflect the needs of family customers. In particular, the store features a family lounge for customers with young children and experiential content for children, making it a new type of community store where people of all ages can enjoy both culture and relaxation.
The first floor of the 'Sejong Arts Center Branch' is equipped with group seating for families and wide walkways to accommodate strollers. The store also offers a selection of over 200 books on culture and the arts, including children's books, for the whole family to enjoy. In addition, a family lounge is available with a nursing room, a fixed diaper changing station, and tableware exclusively for infants, so that customers with young children can use the space comfortably.
In particular, the store features a 'Coloring Creative Tumbler' experience area where children can decorate their own tumblers. The drawing paper inserts inside the tumblers are made entirely from recycled paper, using an eco-friendly material that incorporates 30% recycled milk cartons. Some of these milk cartons were collected directly from Starbucks stores.
The second floor is designed as a space where people of all ages can enjoy culture and the arts. It features Starbucks global artwork as well as collaborative pieces with domestic leather craft artists, offering a variety of visual attractions. The second floor also provides books on coffee and culture and the arts, creating an environment where customers can enjoy reading and relaxation at their leisure.
With this 'Family Friendly' store, Starbucks aims to actively welcome families with children and pursue a differentiated targeting strategy from traditional coffee shops. In addition, through the Family Friendly concept store, Starbucks hopes that every customer who visits will experience a more approachable Starbucks, and that children will naturally develop positive experiences with the brand.
