Gwangmyeong City to Provide Up to 2.7 Million Won in Subsidies for Electric Two-Wheeled Vehicle Purchases
Additional Support for Small Business Owners, Vulnerable Groups, and Farmers
Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on May 30, 2025, that it will provide purchase subsidies for 25 electric two-wheeled vehicles this year.
The maximum subsidy amount is 2.7 million won, with the exact amount varying depending on the vehicle model. For purchases made by small business owners, vulnerable groups at or below the second-lowest income bracket, and farmers, an additional 20% of the national subsidy amount will be provided. For purchases made for delivery purposes, an additional 10% of the national subsidy amount will be provided.
Applicants can sign a purchase contract for an electric two-wheeled vehicle at a manufacturer’s dealership and then apply through the Zero Emission Vehicle Integrated Website, designating Gwangmyeong City as the application location via the dealership. Recipients will be selected in the order of vehicle release and registration among the applicants.
In addition to electric two-wheeled vehicles, the city also provides purchase subsidies for eco-friendly vehicles such as electric passenger cars, electric cargo trucks, and hydrogen vehicles.
The maximum subsidy per vehicle is as follows: 9.8 million won for electric passenger cars (5.8 million won from the national government and 4 million won from the city), 16.5 million won for electric cargo trucks (10.5 million won from the national government and 6 million won from the city), and 32.5 million won for hydrogen vehicles (22.5 million won from the national government and 10 million won from the city). For electric passenger cars and electric cargo trucks, the subsidy amount varies depending on the vehicle model.
As of the application date, citizens aged 18 or older, companies, corporations, and public institutions who have been registered residents of Gwangmyeong City for at least 60 days may apply for the purchase subsidy. Corporations or individual business owners wishing to purchase two or more electric passenger cars or cargo trucks should apply through the Korea Environment Corporation.
The city also provides additional benefits for eco-friendly vehicle purchases. If applicants register for the 'Climate Volunteer Carbon Neutrality Points' within one month after vehicle registration, they will receive 30,000 points for cars and 15,000 points for two-wheeled vehicles.
