Gwangju Dong-gu District Operates 2,000-Book Loan Service for Institutions
On May 29, Gwangju Dong-gu District announced that it is operating a book loan service for institutions in the area in order to contribute to creating an environment where residents can read more books.
The institutional loan service is provided to local social facilities and private small libraries. It allows these institutions to borrow books that match their needs from the Smart Library (an unmanned library) collection.
In the second half of this year, Dong-gu District plans to lend approximately 2,000 books to six or seven institutions. Institutions wishing to use the service can download the relevant forms from the Dong-gu Library website, fill them out, and send them to the person in charge via email.
Lim Taek, head of Dong-gu District Office, said, "Through the institutional loan service, we hope to enhance the practical use of books from the Smart Library and encourage residents to read more books. We look forward to strong interest from local institutions."
Meanwhile, last year, three institutions?Gyerim 2-dong Maeul Sarangchae, Gwangju Student Art Nuriteo, and the Department of Physical Education, Arts, and Character Education?borrowed a total of 408 books.
