Siheung Council for Sustainable Development Recruiting Participants for "Festival Sustainability Action School"
Monitoring Activities for the Siheung Gaetgol Festival
The Siheung Council for Sustainable Development in Gyeonggi Province is recruiting citizens to participate in the "Festival Sustainability Action School," a program designed to train citizen action groups to enhance the sustainability of local festivals. Applications will be accepted until June 13.
This program, which will be held every Friday from June 20 to July 25, consists of a total of seven sessions. The curriculum includes: understanding the concepts of sustainable development and festivals; analyzing domestic and international cases of sustainable festivals; hands-on monitoring of impacts such as carbon emissions; instruction on how to write sustainability reports; and analysis and development of action plans for the Siheung Gaetgol Festival.
The training will feature lectures and discussions that diagnose key sustainability indicators such as carbon emissions, waste generation, and social inclusivity during the planning, operation, and participation stages of festivals. Participants will also conduct hands-on exercises in which they collect and analyze data directly at festival sites.
After completing the training, participants will carry out monitoring activities at the Siheung Gaetgol Festival and then prepare and share their own sustainability reports.
