Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Lee Nakyeon, senior advisor of the Saemirae Democratic Party, will announce an electoral alliance on May 27.
According to the Saemirae Democratic Party, Lee is scheduled to hold an emergency press conference at 11:00 a.m. at the Hanyang Building in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, where he will announce plans for constitutional amendment and a joint government alliance, among other measures.

Kim and Lee held a private meeting at an undisclosed location in Seoul the previous day to discuss the electoral alliance. Previously, on May 20, Jeon Byunghun, leader of the Saemirae Democratic Party, met with Kim Yongtae, interim leader of the People Power Party, and the two agreed on the need for an electoral alliance between their parties.

Lee has demanded the clarification of ties with former President Yoon Sukyeol as a condition for the alliance. Recently, Yoon withdrew from the People Power Party. On May 25, Kim announced plans to push for a revision of the party constitution to completely block presidential intervention in party affairs.
