Bae, Kim & Lee Launches Disaster Safety Strategy Research Institute with Yoon Myungo as Director
On May 26, Bae, Kim & Lee LLC announced the launch of its Disaster Safety Strategy Research Institute to enable companies to manage risks related to disasters and accidents more swiftly.

View original imageBae, Kim & Lee brought on Yoon Myungo, an emeritus professor at the Graduate School of Urban Sciences at the University of Seoul and an expert in fire safety and disaster prevention, as an advisor to help establish the institute.
The institute plans to provide a comprehensive range of services, including consulting on fire disaster prevention, investigations into the causes of accidents and legal advice when incidents occur, legal support related to urban planning such as building and fire safety permits, and overall disaster response strategies.
Bae, Kim & Lee stated, "Recently, there has been an increase in various disasters, ranging from natural disasters caused by climate change to large-scale wildfires, major industrial fires, electric vehicle fires, and hazardous chemical leaks." The firm added, "As a result, companies have shown growing interest in proactive prevention of disasters and accidents, as well as in prompt investigations and legal advice when incidents occur."
Advisor Yoon, who leads the institute, earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture from Seoul National University, followed by a doctorate in engineering from the University of Tokyo. From 1992 to 2023, he served as a professor in the Department of Architecture at Myongji University and in the Departments of Architectural Engineering, Disaster Prevention Engineering, and Disaster Science at the University of Seoul. He has also held various roles in the fields of fire safety and disaster prevention, including president of the Korea Institute of Fire Science and Engineering, member of the Presidential Regulatory Reform Committee, and member of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.
