Busan Gijang County Launches "Family Love Day" Every Wednesday to Establish a No-Overtime Culture
Accelerating the Creation of a Family-Friendly Work Environment
Gijang County in Busan (Governor Jeong Jongbok) has officially launched efforts to foster a family-friendly public service culture in celebration of Family Month this May.
On May 22, the county announced that it has designated every Wednesday as "Family Love Day" and is accelerating the establishment of a culture of leaving work on time without overtime.
"Family Love Day" is a program that encourages public officials to spend Wednesday evenings with their families without overtime. It is part of a campaign to promote leaving work on time, aiming to increase work efficiency and reduce unnecessary overtime.
Starting from May 21, Gijang County has been broadcasting a "leave work song" throughout the county office five minutes before the end of work hours on Wednesdays, encouraging employees to leave on time.
In particular, senior officials are taking the lead by setting an example and leaving work on time, with the goal of creating an atmosphere where staff members can leave comfortably without feeling pressured by their supervisors.
Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "The public sector must now establish a healthy working culture that balances family and work," and added, "Beginning with the implementation of Family Love Day, we will actively promote an organizational culture that supports work-life balance."
