The KCCI Summer Forum will be held this year in Gyeongju, where the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit will take place.
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) announced on May 20 that the 48th Summer Forum will be held at the Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju from July 16 to 19, under the theme "Wisdom of Silla, Path to the Future."
The forum chose Gyeongju as its venue to promote APEC and raise public interest ahead of the APEC Summit and business events scheduled for October in Gyeongju. Traditionally, the forum has often been held in Jeju.
An APEC promotion booth will be set up at the event venue. In addition, feedback from participants who visit APEC-related event sites, restaurants, and tourist attractions will be collected and utilized in the actual event preparations.
Approximately 600 participants, including KCCI Chairman Chey Tae-won, chairpersons from chambers of commerce nationwide, CEOs of member companies, and their families, will attend the forum. The event will feature a variety of programs focused on corporate innovation strategies, future technologies, and the humanities, in line with the APEC CEO Summit theme "3B (Business·Beyond·Bridge)." For the second consecutive year, a management talk show on artificial intelligence (AI) will be held to explore management strategies for the AI era.
Chairman Chey will deliver a keynote speech titled "AI: Assessing the Present and Designing the Future," followed by a discussion with young AI innovators moderated by Ha Jungwoo, Head of the Naver Cloud AI Center.
Programs highlighting the unique characteristics of Gyeongju are also planned. Professor Yoo Hongjun of Myongji University will shed new light on the history and significance of Gyeongju, sharing stories embedded in the relics and artifacts of the thousand-year Silla capital. Other speakers include Kim Jungsang, a quantum computing innovator and professor at Duke University; Kim Nando, a Seoul National University professor known for the "Trend Korea" series; and Jung Heewon, a professor at Asan Medical Center in Seoul who has led the "slow aging" trend.
