Gwangju City has created the rose garden as an urban healing space for citizens on one side of the city hall complex. The garden features 4,780 rose bushes spanning 108 varieties, as well as 11,320 herb plants including lavender and 1,750 flowering plants, creating a vibrant and diverse landscape.
This year, the roses are in even better condition than in previous years, turning the entire garden into a sea of blooms. In particular, the "Love Vow" photo zone, rose tunnel, and various sculptures newly installed last year are providing citizens with a wealth of attractions.
The city is planning additional plantings based on the condition of the roses, and the blooms are expected to reach their peak by the end of this month. The city is also illuminating the rose garden with night lights from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., offering citizens a pleasant space for evening strolls.
On May 19, Lee Subin, head of the accounting department, said, "I hope people can forget the stresses of daily life for a moment and appreciate the beauty of the roses in full bloom," adding, "We will continue our efforts to create spaces where citizens can experience nature and relax within the city."
